we've been pirated!! :)

Three video clips of UMaine's production of Bat Boy have randomly appeared on YouTube. How fabulous is that? I can tell it's from the last Saturday's performance. Check them out:
Hold Me Bat Boy
Comfort & Joy
Joyful Noise
I'm usually off the camera in all of them, but as a whole we all look fantastic! So, congrats to all my wonderful Bat Boy-ers! & to whoever pirated them: shame on you....but I don't mind!!! :) hehe.

I just took a psychology exam. It wasn't too bad. It was how most tests I take are though. I either am POSITIVE about the answer of a question or I have no freaking idea. So, we'll see how that comes out. I have a geology test on Friday, which I am kind of nervous about because I didn't do well on my last one. So keep your fingers crossed for me.

Alright, well I've got to go to geology lecture in a few.
Later, gators!!

i can show you the world...

I hate alarm clocks, well, actually, any alarm in general. I think they are obnoxious. I dread hearing my phone alarm going off at 7:10 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. DREAD IT!!!
It's rather funny the way people automatically react to any sort of alarm. It's like we're trained that when we hear loud annoying noises we must move. Think about it. Whenever we had fire drills at school, everyone would react in the same way without thinking twice about it. Drop your stuff, and get out. I mean I guess it's a good thing considering if there was a real fire and no one reacted they'd get hurt.
Speaking of fires, Slates Restaurant in Hallowell is pretty destroyed after catching on fire on Sunday afternoon. Go here to read more about it. It's really a bummer. Slates was one of the better restaurants in the central Maine area. Hopefully they'll be able to operate again. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
3 days until vacation!!!! Woooot!
Alright, I've got to go to Spanish before too long.
Later, gators.

it's a bittersweet symphony, this life...

Isn't he cheery? This is one of the little decorations Sara and I have in our room. She got him at a secret Santa gift swap for her work. I think he's cute. :)
It's weird not having anything to do tonight. Sara and I are going to go to dinner in a little while, and then I think I'll study for my psych exam that I have on Wednesday. I also made plans to hang out with my friend Arielle, who lives upstairs, later. She and I met when we did "Into The Woods" together at the Waterville Opera House and we've maintained our friendship. She just transferred to UMaine this semester. She spent her first semester at Wheaton and she just happened to move in a floor above me when she came here. Small world! :) So that should be fun!
I am so ready for Spring Break. I am getting kind of burnt out. It'll be SO NICE to have time off. It's kind of a bummer because most colleges have different spring breaks so most of my friends won't be home. Sara and I have made plans to visit Chantal at UMF, have sleepovers at Brian's, and visit teachers at Cony. So, I should have some stuff to do to occupy myself.
Alright, I am going to head to dinner before too long.
Later, gators.

come away with me...

Yum! That is a picture of our strike dinner. More on that in a bit...
First off, last night's show was a little stressful. When I arrived at the make-up studio I heard the news that Sarah Farnham (Mrs. Taylor) had been rushed to the hospital a few hours earlier because she was having intense stomach pains. So, we were all really scared about that and what was going to happen to the part of Mrs. Taylor. Thankfully, our choreographer, Brianne Beck, stepped in and did the part. We were all amazed at how well she did it too considering she was asked if she wanted to do it at 4:30 and we went on at 7:30. So, though we all missed Sarah A LOT it was nice to know that we had Brianne when we needed her in a pinch. That was a fun show. My uncle Jim, grandparents, and Jim's friend Deanna was there. Deanna is super cool, she's a singer in NYC and works for the Colbert Report. Go here to check out some of her music, she's super talented. So, it was really awesome to have her in the crowd as well as my uncle and grandparents that I love lots. After the show Alyssa and I had a sleepover. We ordered pizza and watched Reno 911. It was a good time.
This morning Alyssa, Sara, and I went to brunch and then Alyssa and I had to head over to Hauck for our last performance! It was pretty sad! We had a really good show though. Brianne played Mrs. Taylor again. Sarah was there to watch, but the doctors don't know what is wrong with her yet and advised her not to do the show. So, having her in the crowd made us want to do it extra well! :) And according to her we did great...so that's good! After the show got over we had to strike the set. I am not one for strenuous activity...but it had to be done. Meanwhile, Tom, Anthony, Alec, and Sarah were making the dinner. It was VERY YUMMY. We had white rice, brown rice, lo mein, orange chicken, and teriaki beef. MMM. :) I can't believe Bat Boy is over though! I've been doing it non-stop since November! And I have met so many awesome people. I am not going to know what to do with myself tomorrow night when I don't have a rehearsal to go to!!!
Well, actually I know what I can do! I can look forward to SPRING BREAK which starts this Friday afternoon. YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! :) Over 2 weeks off!!! :)
Alright, gotta run! Later, gators. :)

nearrrrrrrrr farrrrrrrrrr wherever you are...

That's me yelling at you to go to the show. hehehe. Okay ya'll...2 more shows to catch and everyone better find a way to be at one of them!!!! :) Last night's show went really well, our energy was very high. Especially in the second act. The cast party was last night too. That was a A LOT of fun. I love theatre people. We're fun. And that picture is actually me dancing like a fool.

Ok, gotta go to brunch. To look at more pictures from the party go here to my flickr! Later, gators!

my gift is my song, and this one's for you...

4 performances down, 3 more to go. Last night's performance went pretty well! Thursday night audiences are usually small so it was small indeed, but it was a good audience. They laughed when they should have, they clapped, they were lively. My dad and Mira-Su were in the audience. They thought it was a really weird, but good show. That's pretty much the feedback I've gotten from everyone that has gone. Most people think it's just really bizarre, but good nonetheless.
On another note, I love putting ITunes on random. It's like a little surprise every time a new song plays. :) Right now "Never Had Friend Like Me" from Aladdin is playing :) hehe.
On yet another note, the cast party is tonight. So, that should be interesting. The cast is pretty fun so it should be a good time.
Spring Break is in ONE WEEK! Yay! I am off from March 3rd-March 18th! It'll be a nice change of pace. I'm getting kind of burnt out right now with school work and the show...and just going non-stop. It'll be nice to be at home relaxing. :) Plus I haven't been home since the beginning of January!
Alright, geology time.
Later, gators!

i love poppy bagels...

Current Mood: Excited
Currently Listening:
Cold December by Matt Costa

I just got back from breakfast. I had a poppy bagel w/ garden veggie cream cheese & canned peaches. It was scrumptious. :)
We start back up with performances tonight. So, EVERYONE...you have 4 more chances to see Bat Boy: The Musical. Tonight, tomorrow night, and Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
We had our pick-up rehearsal last night. We were let out early on account of a fire alarm. The smoke in the show set off the alarm in the adjacent building. The firemen all came...axes in hand. It always cracks me up when firemen show up with axes. I realize that in real fires they need them, but they just seem silly when all they are doing is shutting an alarm off. When I was at the Boston airport in October there was some sort of alarm that was going off and it seriously lasted almost 45 minutes, I wanted to kick someone. Finally the firemen showed up with axes...and it was like..."what are you going to do with that? bash the alarm to death?". Oh, it makes me giggle.
It was alright that we were let out early anyway, we were all a little silly last night. There was more fooling around on stage than actual rehearsing. I guess it is good we got that out of our system last night instead of making the show look horrible tonight.
My dad and Mira-Su are coming to see the show tonight. Hopefully they like it. My mom and my brother went on Sunday. They both liked it, they thought it was weird...which it is, but they liked it anyways.
Alright, well I've got some stuff to do before I head to Spanish.
Later, gators.

sometimes i run, sometimes i hide, sometimes i'm scared of you...

I think Britney Spears has gone crazy. Here is she shaving her head. Classy.
When I was younger I *LOVED* Britney Spears. I think she started going downhill for me when in between sophomore and junior year in high school Sara, Chantal, and I had tickets to her concert and that was the summer that she canceled half of her tour because of an "injury". AKA...she had just started dating Kevin Federline and wanted to meander around the world with him. Our concert was one of those that was canceled and we were super bummed. Even after that though I tried to give her the benefit of doubt and still listened to "Toxic" like no other. Throughout her marriage to K-Fed, her pregnancies, her odd parenting tactics...I would stick up for her....BUT since her divorce she's gotten a little too crazy even for me. She reminds me more of a drunken, drugged up, stupid hick instead of a classy multi-millionaire super star. I guess it's kind of easy for me to sit here and say "Well, if I were in her shoes I wouldn't be acting like that" but who knows really. Some people don't seem to deal with stardom skillfully or intelligently. But I am sorry, Ms. Spears...I have stuck by you through the years, but you have gotten too much for me to even stick up for anymore. Grow your hair back and start releasing some albums again, please. :)

I like watching the puddles gather rain...

My uncle had one of these on his blog so I decided to make one for myself. The red is all the countries I've been in. US, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, France and Morroco. My map is not nearly as filled in as Uncle Jim's, but maybe someday! :) Go here to try it out.

Alright, speaking of Spain...I've got to go to Spanish class now.

COME TO BAT BOY THIS WEEKEND, EVERYONE!!!!!

dancing in the moonlight...

Happy President's Day! As you can see I am celebrating the legacy of 42 presidents...I blurred out that 43rd. :) It's no secret that I am not a fan of President Bush, and while I hold nothing personally against him as a person, President's Day is to celebrate great PRESIDENTS and I don't feel that he has succeeded at that role. So there's that.

I am so tired. This past weekend was pretty crazy. Saturday night's show wasn't at its strongest. The energy was WAY down and the audience was really low-key which pretty much made our energy hit the floor. On Sunday though when my mum and brother were in the audience the energy was back to its normal high and intense self and we gave a really great show. Hopefully, the next 4 shows go as smoothly. :)

Alright, I am going to watch Little Miss Sunshine now. :)
Later, gators!

another opening, another show!

"It's opening night, Tweedle-Dum!!!!!!!!!!"
Hehe. That was Alyssa's r
eaction when she walked into my dorm last night before we headed to dinner and then eventually over to OPENING NIGHT!!!!! It went FABULOUSLY. I couldn't have been happier or more proud to be part of such a fantastic show last night. :) Hopefully we keep the energy and momentum we had last night UP for the rest of the 6 shows. It was so much fun. Having Sara, Chantal, Brian, and Corey in the audience meant a lot to me.

After the show we all hung out and ate pizza. There was definitely dancing involved. As well as green tongues from fun dip.

Alright, I've got some work to do and then a shower and eventually another show!!!!! :) Later, gators!

How wonderful life is while you're in the world...

Hello world. :) I hope everyones' Valentine's Day was fab. :) Mine was. It's kind of sad being away from my Valentine, but he sent me the sweetest gift ever so I was definitely smiling. On top of it being Valentine's Day we had a SNOW DAY!!!!!! :) That picture is the view from my dorm room yesterday. Pretty snowy!
The snow day was fabulous. I slept in, went in and helped in the costume shop for a bit and then went to rehearsal. We were all a little worried about the fact that we had rehearsal last night because the weather was HORRIBLE and a lot of our cast lives off campus, but everyone arrived and got home safely so thank goodness for that.
Tonight is our last dress rehearsal. I am so ready for an audience so I am PUMPED for tomorrow. Chantal, Corey, and Brian are coming up to see it tomorrow and I can't wait to see them all. :)
Alright, I've got some work to do.
Until next time...later, gators!

wild horses couldn't drag me away...

Mood: Sleepy

That is the weather report for tomorrow from weather.com. People are buzzing about a snow day, but I don't know if I believe that. It takes A LOT for them to cancel classes here. In reality though, the majority of students live off campus and the faculty lives off campus, so they should really take that into consideration. So, MAYBE! Keep your fingers crossed for us poor people who don't want to walk across campus in a blizzard.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are my least favorite days of the week. For starters, I have an 8am class. Gross. Oh, and did I mention that the hall it is in is by the football field? AKA the complete opposite end of campus. Yeah, it isn't fun on freezing cold mornings let me tell you. Also, because the classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays only meet twice a week, they are an hour and 15 minutes long as opposed to the 50 minute Monday Wednesday Friday classes. So, that's a bummer. My Spanish class always drags. I have to walk over there before too long actually speaking of Spanish.

I have to go to the costume shop today to try to find some shoes for my towns person costume. Last night I put on the ones they had picked out for me and they were flying off my feet...so those won't work.

Alright, well I've got to go to Spanish.
Later, gators.

Monday, February 12, 2007

maybe i'm amazed...

That's me. A peacock. We did the quick changes tonight at rehearsal. It was pretty fun actually! My peacock costume is beautiful and it's not that risque, it's just cool. :)
Alright...well I just wanted to share my excitement about my costume.
Until next time...later, gators.

my sweet rose...

Mood: Nervous

I have Geology in a half hour and I am slightly nervous about getting my test score back. Eeeek.
On another note, we had an 11 hour rehearsal yesterday. 11 hours! We had an hour for lunch and an hour for dinner, so 9 hours of rehearsal but I didn't leave the union/Hauck complex from 10am-9pm. What was even more frustrating about the entire thing was that we didn't even run through the show once. All we did ALL DAY was transitions. AKA...moving set pieces on and off stage NUMEROUS times. I realize that its a necessary evil, but we were all going crazy by the end of the night.
Tonight we have our first dress rehearsal. The animal quick change should be pretty interesting. We have 5 minutes to get out of our townspeople outfits and into our animal costumes. We'll see how that goes tonight.
Alright, I have to get some stuff together before I head to Geology. Oh my...I hope I didn't get a 10 on the test or something, haha.
Until next time...later, gators.

there's a breeze off the river...

Mood: Excited

Go me! My letter to the editor was in the KJ today! Go here to see it:
http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/view/letters/3577475.html
I am proud of myself. :o) For awhile I thought they weren't going to publish it because I sent it in awhile ago, but an excited Jeremiah IMd me this morning and told me it was in the paper today. So woooo! Go me!
Alright, I've got a shower to take and tanning to go too...because I'm stupid.
Until next time...later, gators.

the river of dreams...

Mood: Tired

::yawn::
I just got back to my dorm from a rousing evening out with some buddies. I'll start off with my day though.
My prediction was totally right...I had NO idea what I was doing on that goddamn geology test. Oh well. After that I went to work for a little bit. I picked up my check, filed some papers, and got zee hell outta zere. Then Sara and I went to the mall for a bit. I bought some cute earrings at Claire's so that was fun. When I got back I went to dinner in the union with Alyssa. I had a "Winslow" wrap. MMmmm, so yummy. It tastes like a ceaser salad in a wrap...SCRUMPTIOUS.
We then proceeded to rehearsal where we did a full run though with no stopping (sort of) with the orchestra. There were only a few minor mishaps, but for the most part things went very well and it was a lot of fun. I can't believe the show opens in a week!! Wow! :-D
After rehearsal Alyssa, Greg, and I went to pick up Scotty who was in town visiting. Then we went to Greg's dorm to watch a movie and order pizza, but the pizza ended up taking SO LONG to get there that Alyssa and I opted out of the movie. We ate and ran. :) So we left Scotty & Greg alone. Ooh lala! haha.
I am exhausted though.
More tomorrow.
Later, gators.

good ole mother earth...

I have to go take a geology test in 20 minutes and I am going to fail it. I am not just being a negative ninny..seriously I am going to fail it. I have been so busy with rehearsals that I couldn't go to the study session the other night and I don't really understand nor care about anything to do with how our earth was formed. I'll be happy if I can squeak by with a D on the exam.
On a happier note...I got a B- on my psych pre-lim which I find pretty good considering I thought I was going to fail that one too. Maybe that's how this geology one will go, maybe I'll surprise myself. Doubtful.
After Bat Boy is over I'll be able to focus a lot more on my studies. Don't get me wrong, I do my homework and whatnot, it's just tough to find time to study the amount that I need for these classes I don't understand all that well. Oh well. Hopefully it'll go better than I expect.
Gotta run.
Later, gators.

every story is a love story...

Did everyone watch last night? Pretty crazy, eh? That show is getting ridiculous, but it's like...I can't stop watching it...I think I'm addicted. Addicted to LOST, addicted to Grey's, addicted to Nip/Tuck...I need to stop watching so much TV haha.

Alright, I have stuff to do. I will write more later.

Later, gators.

Scrap...

For some reason tonight I am in the mood to listen to "The Full Monty" soundtrack and so I have been for a bit. It's one of my top favorite musicals. Chris and I saw it this summer at the Maine State Music Theatre in Brunswick. It was fabulous. What made it even MORE fabulous was that Jeremy Kushnier played the role of Jerry (the lead) and I had seen him play Roger in RENT on Broadway in 2003. So, to see him in my home state was aweeeesome.

I can't write for too long because LOST is back on tonight for the second half of this season! It hasn't been on for months and I have felt incredibly deprived. So, I am verrrrrry excited about that. :)

Alright, well I will write more tomorrow.
Later, gators.

livin' on dreams and spaghettios...

I haven't written an entry just about my day in awhile, so I'll do that.
Today I woke up and went to work call. Blah. I am so bad at building sets. For the most part Alyssa and I painted some stuff (aka dripped paint all over the place), traced out trees, and made up accents. Greg showed up for a few minutes, just long enough to eat a bagel, chat for a bit, and then leave. Oh, Greggy...
I don't know what I'd do without Alyssa who laughs at everything I say & Greggy, my token gay. They keep me sane in the insanity that is Bat Boy.

Speaking of Bat Boy...just so you guys know...you ALL should GO. I am an animal in one scene and I am involved in an orgy. As if that isn't enough reason to go within itself.(Mature audiences only haha)
Here are 4 of the animals rehearsing the orgy part of the dance. Alec & I are on the right hahaha. Click the link:

Okay, homework to do. I'll write more later.

sigh...

On January 30, my transgendered friend, Jeremiah was written about in an article pertaining to Cony's annual Diversity Day in the Kennebec Journal. It was a wonderful article written by Keith Edwards and I was thrilled to see it in the paper. Go here to see the article: http://kennebecjournal.mainetoday.com/news/local/3564014.html

That same day, presumably after reading the KJ article, Michael Hein wrote the following article on the Christian Civic League's online Newsletter: http://www.cclmaine.org/artman/publish/Maine_3/Cony_Teaches_Transgendering.shtml

I was appalled when I read it. So, today I decided to put myself out there and write a letter to the editor of the KJ. I'll paste my letter in here. Please leave comments of what you think:

I have known Jeremiah Nazarkewycz since we were in 2nd grade. I saw first-hand his struggle to fit in. And when he finally had the courage to speak about being transgendered, The Christian Civic League wrote false and hurtful things about him in their newsletter. One article in particular, written by Michael Hein, is titled “Augusta School Teaches ‘Transgendering’”. Excuse me? You cannot teach “transgendering”. To imply that Jeremiah was somehow influencing youths to become a transgendered person is just ridiculous. As I said, I grew up with Jeremiah and never once did I, as a straight woman, think to myself “Well, jeez! Jeremiah is transgendered, I think I will be too!” You know why? Because that is completely impossible.
The CCL has a right to publish whatever they want, but to publish such falsities as that Jeremiah spoke to “freshmen (13 and 14-year-old[s])” on Diversity Day is just not right. Only juniors and seniors were allowed to attend Jeremiah’s session. They are making an avid attempt to make it seem as if Jeremiah was speaking to small children. When, in fact, he was speaking to young adults. Also, his session was COMEPLETELY optional. Students were not forced to go.
It saddens me that 17 and 18-year olds can accept Jeremiah, but grown men and women who agree with the CCL’s article can’t seem to wrap their mind around acceptance. I send kudos to Cony, kudos to Jeremiah, and a disappointed face to those who waste their time hating.

Until next time...later, gators.
